Mountain West Hope Center's impact extends far beyond statistics — it lives in the real stories of real people who have found stability, dignity, and a path forward through the ministry's support.
Tiarra L.
Tiarra's story of courage and perseverance reached far beyond the Hope Center community and was even featured on the local news. As a mother of four, she made the difficult decision to leave California for Georgia, determined to break a generational cycle of domestic abuse and give her children a safer future. Shortly after arriving, a serious plumbing and sanitation problem made their rental home unsafe, leaving the family in urgent need of a safe place to live. The Hope Center helped Tiarra secure a safe apartment in Stone Mountain, giving her children a clean, stable home. Today, Tiarra is a familiar and active part of the Tucker campus — working, taking college classes, and building a more stable, independent future for her family, with hopes of one day encouraging other mothers to do the same.

Natalie has been part of the Hope Center's story from the very beginning. As a single mother raising her son on her own, she faced the everyday challenges of providing stability and opportunity for her family without a safety net. With support from the Hope Center, Natalie secured steady employment, providing a reliable source of income and a renewed sense of independence. The Hope Center also invested in her long-term future with tuition assistance to help her continue her education, along with Wi-Fi support to keep her and her son connected for schoolwork and everyday needs. Natalie is now looking toward the future, hoping to give back by pursuing work in the nonprofit field.

Sarah came to the Hope Center facing needs in nearly every area of her life — rent, tuition, clothing, food, and transportation. Rather than addressing just one part of her situation, the Hope Center provided support for her entire household, recognizing that lasting stability often requires meeting several needs at once. That support helped Sarah move forward: she successfully completed her first semester at Gwinnett Technical College, an important milestone toward greater independence. Sarah continues to be an active, engaged member of the community as she works toward her educational and personal goals.

After serving a full decade in prison, Steven was released in February 2026 and faced the difficult task of rebuilding his life almost entirely from scratch. The Hope Center met him at that critical point — providing temporary housing so he wouldn't face homelessness, along with food and clothing for his immediate needs. Just as importantly, the Hope Center provided job assistance and transportation, helping remove two of the biggest barriers people often face when returning to the community after incarceration. Today, Steven has begun a successful new career and continues to build a stable, independent life.
